Alpha Phi Omega collects menstrual hygiene products for local homeless community

While the homeless population has decreased since last year, it’s not uncommon to see a handful of people experiencing homelessness around Florida State University’s campus and down Tennessee Street. In Leon County alone, the homeless population is nearing 800 and it’s still a pressing issue.

Homeless individuals worry about many basic aspects of living; finding places to eat, sleep and bathe are constant concerns. For many, these worries are taken a step further when expensive menstrual hygiene products are added into the equation. Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed service fraternity at FSU, recognized this problem and has come up with a solution: collecting menstrual hygiene products for local homeless shelters.
